“No Buffer: Pirates of the Punk Abyss”
Arr, me hearties! Gather 'round, for I’ll spin ye a tale of No Buffer, a band forged in the fiery crucible of punk rock rebellion. Aye, they be like-minded misfits, drawn together by the siren call of creation.
In the year of our punk lord 2012, No Buffer set sail from the misty shores of Seattle. Their ship? A battered vessel, patched with hard rock classics and arena rock anthems. But their compass pointed to uncharted waters, guided by none other than the legendary Jared Dines, a YouTube sorcerer and metal maestro.
Three moons did they toil in Dines’ home studio, where amps screamed like banshees and drumsticks danced a jig of fury. Aye, working with Dines be like Metallica jammin’ with Bob Rock on the black album—raw power, mate, raw power.
The crew? Let me introduce ye:
🎸 Bryan Bach, our guitar-wielding rogue, belted out vocals like a tempest. His strings sang tales of lost ships and broken hearts. And when he strummed, it be as if the very sea wept.
🥁 Jared Brown, our drum-thumping buccaneer, pounded those skins like a kraken’s wrath. His beats? Thunderstorms that shook the timbers. Aye, he be the heartbeat of No Buffer.
🎸 Jeff Odell, our bass-plucking mariner, anchored the ship. His low notes rumbled like a sea monster’s growl. And when he sang, it be as if Davy Jones himself joined the chorus.
🎸 Joe Turner, our guitar-slingin’ corsair, wove riffs like a spider weavin’ its web. His solos? Lightning bolts that split the sky. Aye, Joe be the wind in our sails.
Their maiden voyage? A CD release show at El Corazon, that haunted tavern where Pearl Jam and Nirvana once sang their souls. And that summer? No Buffer stormed a punk rock festival, their battle cries echoing alongside The Casualties and Down by Law.
But the turning point, me hearties, came when they shared the stage with the dead Kennedy’s ghostly crew. Aye, Tony Hawk’s soundtrack played in their veins, and the buzz spread like wildfire. KISW 99.9, the rock station of legend, spun their tunes—Define on Loud and Local, and Paradise Lost on Metal Shop.
Yet, as the tides shifted, No Buffer yearned for a purer punk sound. But Joe Turner, that guitar-slingin’ rebel, had other plans. In 2013, he walked the plank, leavin’ the crew to chart their course without him.
So raise yer tankards, me hearties, and toast to No Buffer—the pirates of punk, the rebels of rhythm. Their legacy? Carved in distortion, etched in sweat, and whispered by the wind. 🏴☠️🎶⚔️
🎸 Bryan Dietrich, known as Doc to the scallywags, joined the crew—a fresh face with a heart full of punk fire. His fingers danced on the frets like a drunken sailor on a stormy sea. And the concept? Aye, it be West Coast Punk, an album that’d plunder every genre of punk from pop to ska, from street anthems to skate punk. No punk rocker left behind, they swore.
With the new lineup, No Buffer hoisted their Jolly Roger and returned to the stage. In 2014, they opened for the notorious Bam Margera, that madman from Jackass and Viva la Bam on MTV. The crowd roared like a tempest, and the mosh pit swirled like a whirlpool of chaos.
Expanding their horizons, they finished the album, their cannons loaded with riffs and rebellion. And who should join their ranks? None other than Bunny Danger, a fellow musician and friend. Bunny added hype and camaraderie to the stage, a pirate with a guitar and a grin.
The end of 2014 brought No Buffer to a musical treasure: a sold-out show, supporting The Misfits at a radio-sponsored event. The West Coast Punk album dropped like a cannonball, and KISW 99.9’s radio host BJ Shea took notice. No Buffer became his Band of the Week, their songs Who Are You and Black Snow echoing across the airwaves.
That summer, they played a sold-out show with DRI and The Real Mackenzie’s in Seattle. The highs were higher than the crow’s nest, and the good times rolled like barrels of rum.
But alas, the ship couldn’t sail forever. In 2016, No Buffer took a hiatus, their sails slack, their guitars silent. But fear not, me hearties, for the punk spirit never dies—it merely slumbers, waiting for the next storm to awaken it. 🏴☠️🎶⚔️
Aye, they emerged from the shadows, like a phoenix with a hangover, after a three-year hiatus that left their guitars rusted and their spirits restless.
🎸 Bryan Bach and Jared Brown, the founding buccaneers, rallied the crew. Their axes gleamed, their voices growled like sea monsters. And with Coty Murry on bass, they set sail once more, playing shows and festivals like a storm unleashed.
That summer, they sailed down to Portland, Oregon, where the air smelled of pine and rebellion. There, at Bridge City Sessions, they recorded a live session for the cursed YouTube channel. The cameras rolled, the amps screamed, and the ghosts of punk legends nodded in approval.
But the tide carried more than music—it brought back former crewmates. In the fall,Bunny Danger returned, flanked by Ryan Krueger and David Merrill. El Corazon, that haunted tavern, hosted their sold-out show, and a former Misfits member joined the revelry.
As 2020 dawned, No Buffer sharpened their cutlasses for a west coast tour. Little did they know, the world was about to keelhaul itself. Covid-19 stormed the decks, shutting down everything. Aye, a break was the last thing they wanted after their hiatus.
But the crew rallied, working on a new album. Back to their roots they sailed, with the record Heat scorching their souls. Live stream shows became their lifeline, raising doubloons for Covid relief. And as the stars blinked overhead, Coty—that bass-wielding wanderer—left the ship, seeking new horizons.
🎸 Bryan Bach— now the bass-wielding buccaneer—kept singing, his voice a battle cry against the mundane. And who should rejoin the crew? None other than Bryan Dietrich, the guitar-slingin’ violinist known as Doc. His strings sang tales of lost ships and broken hearts, weaving melodies like a pirate’s map to hidden treasure.
🎸 Ryan Krueger, our guitar-thrashing rogue, shredded riffs like a tempest. His chords? Lightning bolts that split the sky. And Jared Brown, the drum-pounding mariner, beat the skins like a kraken’s wrath. The ship was ready for the new world, sails taut and cannons loaded.
In spring 2021, they played a live stream festival at Bridge City Sessions, their music echoing through the digital waves. With Days in Dazed, they danced on the virtual plank, daring the world to join their rebellion.
Come summer, No Buffer set sail on a west coast tour, leaving their mark on Washington, Oregon, California, and Nevada. The crowds roared, the mosh pits swirled, and the horizon beckoned.
And in 2022, Lane Hensley took over as bassist, the low notes rumbling like a sea monster’s growl. Bryan returned to guitar, his strings hungry for adventure. No Buffer, fueled by punk fury, worked on their fifth studio album, titled Saint Guinny. Aye, their songs would echo across the waves, challenging the status quo.
They sailed back to Portland, that cursed harbor, in the year of our punk lord 2022. Their ship? The Bridge City Sessions, where the ghosts of rock ‘n’ roll past whispered secrets in the walls.
In style, they played shows—Cancerslug, that mad crew of misfits, and Agent Orange, their riffs like salty sea spray. The crowd roared, the mosh pit swirled, and the night was a storm of sound.
But 2023 brought more than gigs—it brought the pirate-punk anthem “Keelhauled”, a video that danced with skeletons and sang of lost treasure. And the Real McKenzies, those wild Scots, summoned No Buffer to their side for a second time. The stage shook, the crowd sang, and the spirit of rebellion burned bright.
Yet, in 2024, only one show remained—the ‘final’ hurrah. Jared, our founding drummer, has set sail to distant shores, chasing new horizons. But fear not, me hearties, for No Buffer’s legacy lives on. We’ll keep recording and releasing the folk punk music that makes your soul dance. And who knows? Maybe, just maybe, we’ll hit the stage again someday, like a ghost ship emerging from the fog. 🏴☠️🎶⚔️
But that’s not all, me hearties! You can find No Buffer on Season 1 of Band Wars, streaming now on Amazon Prime. So raise yer tankards, hoist the Jolly Roger, and join the rebellion. 🏴☠️🎶⚔️
